3. Cove or finger pocket frontage
Lowest wake activity, best for paddle sports and beginner swimmers, often limited for larger boats or navigation during late-season low water. Seen throughout Long Lake, Round Lake, and interconnected Chain inlets.
Buyers should understand how wake impacts:

- Dock stability and lifespan
- Boat bumping and hull wear
- Swim enjoyment
- Insurance risk assessment
- Outdoor sound levels
- Patio furniture “migration”
Sellers should disclose peak traffic patterns honestly. Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends on the Chain have a very different energy than Tuesday evenings in May. Buyers coming from non-boating lakes may underestimate wave action until living there full-time.
A property’s position along the water is as permanent as the lake itself. A remodeled house can always be updated again — a shoreline location cannot be changed.
